One night when I was 12 years old, I sat up in bed and dedicated my life to becoming a millionaire. I figured everyone should dedicate their life to something, that was the perfect goal. (Your perfect goal may be completely different, but perfect for you.) Beginning on my 8th birthday, the only wish I can remember ever making – when blowing out candles or wishing on falling stars, or if a friend pointed out some other reason to make a wish – was to be rich. Actually it began as “rich and famous” but then I later decided that I could probably just find a way to become famous after I got rich, and it’s better to just focus on just one. But who knows – maybe I’m just lazy.
Well I’m not rich yet and I’m not happy about it. I do pay my way through college with a little internet cash machine I invented, and also making websites are writing – things I enjoy. But I need a level of focus and determination that I’ve never experienced.
A few weeks ago while going over my goals I found myself writing, “To [accomplish my goal] I’m going to have to commit to a level of focus and determination unlike any I have ever known.”
To put it simply, I need to become a workaholic. The problem is I hate work. And so the introspection begins, and this blog is where I put myself through rigorous, dedicated testing of self help techniques. I do it and report back to you. The whole process adds hope and a lot of spice to my life. To be sure you never miss the excitement, I invite you to subscribe to my live bookmark – try it!
Applying what I learn to your life is easy, too. For example, doesn’t the bolded sentence above apply to all of our goals? Regardless of who you are or what you do have, if you have had a lofty goal for some time then you 1. Have not yet accomplished the goal, because 2. to realize your goal as a reality in your life you’re going to have to commit to a level of focus and determination unlike any you have ever known.
I’m finding some exciting things on this path, and with one goal in mind for 18 years and numerous failures already under my belt, I believe I’m closer than ever.
Talk to you soon,
Bentley
