On “Self Experiments” I experiment on myself. I’m making a list of upcoming experiments that you can view here. I encourage everyone to suggest their own thoughts and ideas. If something sounds interesting to me, I’ll probably try it.
My First Experiment: Sexual Transmutation (aka sexual sublimation)
Begins: Sunday, September 30, 2007
Napoleon Hill described “sexual transmutation” as one of the keys to success. Basically, you focus your sexual energy on your work. Does this mean you can never have an orgasm? Hill describes never having an orgasm like trying to build a damn to hold back an unstoppable river … or something like that. If I tried to go for the rest of my life without one, I’d lost my mind, but I think I could go a few days or a week (maybe?) in order to see what happens when I focus my sexual energy on more constructive efforts.
I’ll be posting daily, and often more than once a day, because following through with this experiment will require an incredibly amount of will power. In fact, any support I get here will be a huge help, and is much appreciated.
It might help to point out that I’m a psychology major. As you probably know, there’s something mentally wrong with every psych student, and that’s why we’re in the field: to find out what’s wrong with us. So that explains my willingness (I’m a little nuts) and my interest in self experimentation.
